PHP 5.3.3 with FPM and APC 3.1.4 -- Potential cache slam averted
August 08, 2010 02:35PM
I have a running Ubuntu 10.04 with php 5.3.3 and fpm compiled from sources. Also APC version 3.1.3p1 was installed. When I upgraded my APC to version 3.1.4, my drupal logs are suddenly filled with:
apc_store(): Potential cache slam averted for key 'dru-perf:vladgh.com:rss.xml' in /srv/www/drupal6sites/sites/all/modules/devel/performance/performance.module on line 273.
I have the php-fpm error logs enabled, slow logs, and php error log. But there is nothing in these logs. Only in Drupal.
I found a solution for this by adding apc.slam_defense = Off; to my php.ini, and now my logs are free of this error, but is this the safe way? Did anybody ever come across this kind of trouble? FPM's documentation is not very clear on this but it doesn't sound like a good thing.

This has to do with apc not fpm.

They made some changes in the new version and I believe he said on irc "test the hell out of it"

You probably want to bring this up on the php general or possibly php dev/internals list or #php.pecl on efnet.
