There's a patch out for 5.3.

I will probably be announcing the new version oh PHP-FPM soon, been
waiting on Andrei's "okay" first in case he has some different code
he'd like to start with; but it will no longer be a patch and can work
standalone from PHP, so packaging it will be much easier :)
