Using named captures works (as demonstrated by
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/12459518/nginx-extract-a-value-from-a-variable-or-any-string),
though:
map $host $foo {
"~*^www\.(?<domain>.*)$" $domain; # Named capture wins
default $foo;
}
