Proxy bypass

January 01, 2011 11:45AM
Hi,
I am planning to use the nginx proxy to serve big static files from several servers.
Each proxy server will have several origins.
There are some files I don't want to serve through the proxy, but directly from the origin.

My question is:
If I use "proxy_cache_bypass" with "proxy_no_cache", the file transfer will still be made through the proxy?

Allow me to clarify:
Will the proxy server use it's own bandwidth to fetch (from origin) and serve the file (from the proxy)? OR it will bypass the proxy server entirely and serve the content from the origin (proxied server) directly to the client ?

If the answer is "yes" for the first question, how can I make it work the other way? (serve directly from origin on proxy bypass)

I don't want the proxy server to act as a bottleneck.

Thanks.
