Hi,
I've been a user of Varnish+Apache for a couple years and am just now reading up on Nginx.
I know that I could introduce Nginx to perform gzip compression:
internet -> nginx (compress) -> varnish -> apache
Nginx and Varnish both cache content, so other than compression, why is it that busy sites (such as Wordpress) choose to combine Nginx and Varnish? Combining them adds a layer of complexity; obviously there is a good reason to do so. I just cannot see it.
What am I missing here?
Thanks,
Simon
