In our setup we have a client that makes some web services calls to the back end with nginx as a proxy in between. Most of the time it is successful 99% but 1% calls are dropped and the client reports the error. On retry the operation goes through fine, no other change is requried. The client is on a hosted environment, so getting detailed logs from client is bit hard. (Client Error) ---by paphillon - Nginx Mailing List - English
Hi, I need to compile Nginx with --with-debug option. Will there be any performance implications if I have this flag set but NOT set the error log to debug_* when I don't want to debug or troubleshoot any issue?by paphillon - Nginx Mailing List - English
Hi All, What is the best approach for implementing Dynamic routing for the below use case -Route web service calls to a separate server (location based) -Route user UI Web requests to a separate server (location based) -A single server URL for multiple implementations and provide a mechanism to route to different web service server and UI server based on customers e.g.-------------------by paphillon - Nginx Mailing List - English
upstream with keepalive has the results almost comparable with tomcat, so yes keepalive between nginx and tomcat really does the trick. :) Unfortunately we cannot use the upstream as explained in my previous post, unless upstream can offer something like below map $http_void $header_based_url{ default "no_http_header"; #These Key => URL's are currently stoby paphillon - Nginx Mailing List - English
Hi Maxim, Thanks for the insight! I had a hunch on the keepalive setting from nginx to tomcat, but did not really find anything in the document about that. I will give it a try and let you know the results. I am not sure if I will be able to use this keepalive in production as it requires upstream config and differs from the way we have architect Nginx configuration. I have a test setup to measure the nginx overhead when plugged in front of a Jboss tomcat server. In tomcat I have deployed a test.jsp and use ab to measure the performance with the following scenarios With out keep alive ab option ab --> <jboss tomcat URL> (ab -n 5000 -c 5 http://jboss.tomcat.url/test.jsp) ab --> <nginx URL> --> <jboss tomcat URL> (ab -n 5000 -cby paphillon - Nginx Mailing List - English
