What is the best practice for storing and serving images securely without hurting performance? Is it possible to store user images in a folder that's not web accessible (possibly higher up and before /www?) and serve on demand after the user has logged in to the page? There is a username and password access mechanism already in place. The users don't want these images to be publicly accessiby mfouwaaz - Nginx Mailing List - English

Hi there Thanks for the reply and I am trying to do that. But how? Do I download php again and re-install it? Where can I find the replacement file? If you can walk me through the process, it will be greatly appreciated.by mfouwaaz - Nginx Mailing List - English
Hi I am not very conversant with this. I didn't do any compilation of my own just downloaded the .deb package. The nginx.conf, though, I created new. Thanks!by mfouwaaz - Nginx Mailing List - English
Sorry for missing that conf. portion. ....the fastcgi_params file fastcgi_param QUERY_STRING $query_string; fastcgi_param REQUEST_METHOD $request_method; fastcgi_param CONTENT_TYPE $content_type; fastcgi_param CONTENT_LENGTH $content_length; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $request_filename; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_NAME $fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_param REQUEST_URI $request_uri;by mfouwaaz - Nginx Mailing List - English
Hello I have a problem where php exits with a 502 Bad Gateway error every once in a while. It appears to be unpredictable. When it happens I have to re-start the vm -- restarting nginx doesn't fix it. The OS is Ubuntu running on VirtualBox and I am connecting to it over a bridged network only from the host Vista machine. This is a portion of the error log and also the configuration. Any heby mfouwaaz - Nginx Mailing List - English
Just for the record, things seem to be back to normal when I change the folder name from images to img. That`s how I resolved this issue -- until the nginx or css Gods deem otherwise (I tend to lean toward the former though). Hello I have a folder titled images folder in www root, intending to hold some images. However, the folder is not visible when I try to look at images in it. e.g. http://192.168.1.68/imagesfolder/ -- gives a 404 Not Found error. <img src="http://192.168.1.68/imagesfolder/button-closed.png" width="20" height="20" alt="myimage" /> -- giby mfouwaaz - Nginx Mailing List - English
Thanks very much Valentin. I will enable debug information and write with more details, when it happens again. The whole thing is in the VirtualBox machine, there is nothing in the host machine. I have enabled 'Bridging' in the VirtualBox machine though, so that I can browse the domain (in the virtual machine) from the host. Thanks again for being so patient. I should have mentioned that I cannot replicate this error at will -- it happens only very rarely. I will also set up a separate instance with the debug config as shown in the link -- but I'd like to know what you would like to see. Thanksby mfouwaaz - Nginx Mailing List - English
Hi Valentin Thanks for getting back to me. Can you kindly spell out exactly what you are expecting and where I can find it? Thanks!by mfouwaaz - Nginx Mailing List - English

Hello First of all thank you for this forum which I have just joined. I have set up nginx and have it working very well for the past month or so. However I have faced this problem for the second time now. The last time it happened I had to power down and re-start the machine and it was ok. I am running Nginx and PHP-FastCGI connecting to Oracle 10g on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10.04 LTS) insby mfouwaaz - Nginx Mailing List - English
