I want to use nginx as a file server but I need a way to upload hundreds of files manually at time. Does ftp work with nginx? Or is there another solution that is simple?

Nginx is an http server not an ftp server. File uploads and downloads have to be done by a web app.

What about using ssh ftp client like filezilla? Anyone fimilar with that?

You may use vsftpd as your ftp server.
