I'm curious as to if there is a list of web-sites running nginx that might demonstrate some sort of design or performance advantage over httpd. I know http://www.rambler.ru/ is running nginx but are there any more 'main-stream' web sites/services/applications running nginx here in the States that incur heavy volume while demonstrating some similar sort of advantage?

I'm about to build an (attempt of an) AJAX based chat application and concluded that nginx understood and incorporates more advantages in its implementation for handling a heavier amount xhr. I'm I on base here or way off-track? Certainly how we develop for http has changed over the years but rarely has a web-server ever accommodated these changes correctly until, what I hope, nginx.

I'm not sure what you mean by "main stream". Rambler is a pretty large site. Alexa ranks it 112 in the world and sixth in Russia.
