I don't know about the best way to set it up from source on a Linux box.

This, http://php-fpm.org/Documentation , shows one thing and this,
https://launchpad.net/php-fpm , something completely different.

I'm not sure what's the appropriate route to take and a clear
explanation should be at least available on the project page to guide
starters.

the launchpad project is not the patch anymore.

we do need to do some housekeeping and explain the difference.

what is on php-fpm.org is still the patch. there's a new direction
though which does not require patching php, and that is hosted on
launchpad and/or dreamcat's github right now. dreamcat's been hacking
away at it (thank you!)

so new non-patch php-fpm: launchpad
old patch style php-fpm: php-fpm.org

we're hoping we can put pressure on distros/teams/etc to adopt the new
fpm. i'm so behind though i'm not even using it yet!

i need to figure out how to split up the php-fpm site and make it
clear with directions and downloads for both.

Are you planning to have this introduced into the "official" FreeBSD ports at some point?

Yep I'll submit it once a few people have tried and confirmed there
are no issues and there is an official download link for the 0.6.x
branch.

On that side what are the plans for an official release of 0.6.x?

I will also likely wait till ports version of php has been updated to
5.2.11.

Sweet, should I look to move the port to 0.6.5 or stick with 0.6.3?
Looks like libevent became an external dep in 0.6.4 which shouldnt be
an issue but anything else important we should be aware of?

There's no new features in 0.6.5 yet. Everyone should continue to use
0.6.3 until the 0.6.5 libevent compilation issue is fixed.

Hi Michael,
Here are my suggestions:

Host the older patch file series in the downloads section of
launchpad. You should then have all of the versions alongside each
other. Still keeping the 0.5X patches available as 'archive' for those
who need them.

I'd say just leave it and / or move the useful content into launchpad.
Actually the launchpad site itself is out of date now too. I'd be
happy to help, however you'll need to add me as a project member to be
able to edit anything there. Here are some launchpad things which
require attention:

* Moving forward the officially named branch as it segfaults and is
generally broken / doesn't work.

* Fix the launchpad project downloads page, so do not have to find it
elsewhere, eg github.

* A notice resolving FPM versions <=> PHP versions. This is especially
important with the next update (which is coming soon). Theres simply
too much confusion about these new versions, and i'd very much like to
rectify that.

And I'm sure you know of even more ways to improve the site. It would
be nice to see something happening here.
Until then i'll be busy working on the next updates.

For those looking for a 5.2.11 patch try the following. Please not I'm
not running 5.2.11 yet so can't confirm all is good but it did build
cleanly on my test box.

Of course the link should have been:
http://gameservers.multiplay.co.uk/dropzone/freebsd-ports/php-5.2.11-fpm-0.6.3.tar.bz2

The following link is updated to use the latest drop on launchpad
( php-fpm-0.6-5.2.11.tar.gz ) instead of the previous one which was
against a 0.6.3 snapshot:
http://gameservers.multiplay.co.uk/dropzone/freebsd-ports/php-5.2.11-fpm-0.6.tar.bz2
