Can ssl_trusted_certificate be used instead of ssl_client_certificate

June 02, 2023 11:42AM
Hello,

I don't want to send the client the file which has all the trusted CA certificates while establishing a connection while also not disabling client verification. I read in the official documentation that the above mentioned directive are interchangeable and the only difference is that one(ssl_client_certificate) sends the file and the other(ssl_trusted_certificate) doesn't.

When I tried this, I get the following error:
nginx: [emerg] no ssl_client_certificate for ssl_verify_client

Am I missing something? Can someone please guide me?

Thanks in advance,
Saini
