i have just setup a new server that runs nginx 1.10.2 and have now enabled SSL on port 443. i have used a configuration that is based on the one i am successfully running on a different server and yet nginx is not listening to port 443 using this configuration. i have changed many options in the nginx.conf and site config files but no matter what i do i am unable to reach my site via SSL and when i run netstat -tulpn | grep 443 - i get nothing returned.

port 443 is open in the firewall.

if i connect from a remote machine using openssl i see :

socket: bad file descriptor
connect:errno=9

anyone know what's going on here? thanks
