It's offtopic but technically you can or life always finds a way -
Cloudflare for example offers a workaround as "CNAME flattening"
https://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-cname-flattening-rfc-compliant-cnames-at-a-domains-root/
with a usecase exactly for ELB.
