I think Igor is suggesting PERL named captures.

Although, it appears to me the correct syntax would rather be (?<name>...),
as perlre docs <http://perldoc.perl.org/perlre.html#Extended-Patterns>state..
Then, just use you first syntax (omitting the 'set' directives).
