I removed the .htpasswd file. I removed auth_basic and auth_basic_user_file from the config files. I even added auth_basic "off";

None of the things I'm trying are removing the prompt for username and password. I either need to find the password or remove this so I can access a portion of the site that is currently blocked by http auth. I tried to use the password located in htpasswd. No avail. I have read through many forums and not found many useful suggestions. Also, yes, I am using service nginx reload after my changes. I am a new developer and the nginx configuration here was set up by anyone else. Why are none of the things I'm trying working? I feel like they should.
