Optimize images made by image_filter
January 29, 2017 03:42AM
Hello guys,

I'm trying to optimize page speed of my website. When I test my website using Google's Pagespeed Insights tool it shows me that my images can be optimized by 20-50%, and it points to the images created by nginx' image_filter. I store these images in cache on a hard drive. However, these cache files have an unusual format which doesn't allow me to optimize them using, for example, jpegoptim tool. I want a lossless optimization, of course.

What could I do in this case? Is there any way to grab images from cache, optimize them and put them back to cache? Or maybe add some sort of "post hook" for any image which has been created by nginx?

Any ideas are welcomed!
