Problem configuring non-standard ports for virtual hosts
February 16, 2012 08:34AM
Hello ngins. I have changed one of my sites to be accessible at port 8080 while I used the IP address to test. And concurrently, the domain records for this site were being changed (propagating). Once the DNS resolved, I noticed the site was redirecting me to port 8080 as I told it to. But now that the DNS had resolved, I wanted to switch back to the standard port 80. I made the change in the nginx config, reloaded the config, and the site is still directing me to port 8080, though I'm certain that the config is correct (at least the change I made to listen statement in the server block is now reading 80 instead of 8080). I thought it might have been cacheing issue, but I tried clearing cache in multiple browsers and accessing the site from a different network on my mobile phone, and all still redirected to port 8080. Does anyone have any ideas on what could cuase this? I'd be happy to provide more information if necessary. Thanks!

The problem was that I had installed Word Press while the port 8080 was active, so WP was redirecting to that port!
