Has it occurred to anyone else that 'Stable' releases tend to be behind the 'Development' branch lately?

It seems to me that the 'Development' branch has become the better choice for productive environments since it seems just as stable.

Isn't that the way it is with any software product? The development branch will see new features faster and more releases will be made in order to help catch problems early in the development cycle?
