Mail Forwarding?

Hello everyone. I have recently made the plunge into nginx. I am liking it so far. Its a bit uneasy for me because I'm used to having my hands held by cpanel, but im getting used to it.

With my old apache/ cpanel setup I was able to set up a mail forward pretty easy through the panel ( send myname@mysite.com to myname@gmail.com) but I don't know what it does behind the scenes and don't know how to do it via command line(or however). I don't really need a mail server because its only for a handful of people that are already comfortable with their current emails.

I apologize if this is a very simple question, but any help would be appreciated.
