As discussed here (http://forum.nginx.org/read.php?2,237967) I am interested in TLS SNI support for the mail modules (SMTP, IMAP and POP3).

I am wondering whether a regular contributor to nginx, preferably one with knowledge of SSL, mail or both would be interested in developing this functionality. I would be willing to sponsor this development and donate to resulting code to NGINX Inc. I am just a private individual, not a big company. But in the same way people spent money on their car as a hobby I am willing to spend some money on furthering the development of open source software like nginx.

If anyone is interested please contact me to discuss options. Details like which version to patch, constraints, coding standard, quality, acceptance test and payment terms are all open for discussion.

Good Evening,

I am looking for an Nginx expert to help me resolve an issue on my website insureandaway.co.uk.

The front end of my site is built using Wordpress and is hosted on a seperate server...when using the quick quote form on the home page you will then be taken to secure.insureandaway.co.uk a Drupal website on a seperate server that takes you into the sales funnel.

I kept the two parts of the site seperate for SEO purposes something I have been grateful for quite a few times now.

The issue I have is randomly users to my site between step 3 medical screening (which uses an API) and step 4 review & pay (using Ubercart) are getting a 403 Forbidden Nginx error.

I have had developers working to try and solve this for the past 2 weeks but none of them seem to be solving the issue.

I am looking for someone who can debug this as soon as possible.

I am looking for someone to fix up my nginx.conf and my virtual.conf files. My site runs fine w/ the current files, but I know they are not done right. I need some try_files and tweaking.

Also, I just attempted to restart my nginx server and this happened:

Executing /etc/rc.d/init.d/nginx restart ..

Stopping nginx: [ OK ]
Starting nginx: nginx: [emerg] bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (98: Address already in use)

I am 'trying' to get my app migrated from Apache to NGINX and am having some issues.

I have the server built and the software all loaded. I just need help getting the darn thing to load. I don't anticipate this first part taking more than an hour or two.

However, if it goes well, we will need a LOT more NGINX support in the future to scale this thing out to support a lot of concurrent users.

Hi,

I've been using nginx for a while and decided to implement a caching proxy but found the documentation really confusing. I'd like someone to verify I've set it up correctly (it's creating cache files in the cache path, at least - not sure if it's using them though) and that it's optimized and doing what I expect it to do (reduce the impact on the NFS mount where the files are).

Server Hardware:
32GB Memory

What is the target:

I read nginx is very very good to handle static file. I will host on this server the image hosting script from http://chevereto.com/
This script has the following requirements:

An Apache HTTP web server -> NO i want NGINX :)
Apache's mod_rewrite enabled -> Should be no problem aswell with Nginx ?
PHP 5.0 or higher
file_uploads enabled in php.ini
GD Library 2 or higher
Client URL Library (cURL)
There is no Database behind

What i need from a specialist:

You get root access to the fresh installed dedicated server with centos minimal, and you install the requirements of the script with nginx, and fine tune nginx to freak out the best maximum performance based on the server hardware above.

Hi I have a dedicated server that used to run lighttpd. It has now been switched over to run nginx. It runs great for the frist 5 minutes but then the page loads get very slow. They can take up to a minute to load. I am looking for someone that can configure the webserver properly to lower the page load times.

We need an NGiNX expert who can configure a load-balancer on NGiNX in such a way that it will cache all static resources (identified by extensions such as .png, .jpg, .pdf, .css and so on), but route all other requests (to dynamic resources) to another Apache-based reverse proxy, which may then generate another request to fetch the resource, if it is not caching it, which should then be routed through the NGiNX load-balancing to the web-servers.

I think we can make huge steps by optimizing the nginx conf because still a whole lot of traffic will be pushed to apache.

Summary of project:

Our website is an SaaS cloud application

The main website front end www.example.com runs wordpress. When users register for an account we will need to create a virtual host for the user, so they can login at username.example.com

The server which will manage all sub-domain virtual hosts will be Nginx.

I was told that Nginx can be configured without a default virtual host, see below

"You just dont setup the main domain as an nginx vhost on the subdomain server and leave the dns pointing at the old server. You then setup vhosts for the subdomains (or catch all subdomains depending on your application) and point dns at your subdomain server"

So I will have some A records going to example.com and www.example.com which is run one one server IP. And for the sub-domain Nginx server it will have another IP.

To setup all sub-domain to map to our application folder I was told to do the following

map $http_host $subdir {
hostnames;
.foo.bar.com "foo";
.baz.bar.com "baz";
}

server {
root /path/to/$subdir;

}

So each new user we will add an entry into this config file and do nginx -s reload

Our DNS for the sub-domain server I am not sure how to setup it should have a wild card so that we do not have to create A records for each sub-domain right? Please tell me your thoughts about this method of creating sub-domains and handling DNS.

Now if that is correct user can login to username.example.com

However if a visitor attempts to access a sub-domain which does Not exist. Such as asdfasdf.example.com I would like to have them redirected to a custom 404 page, on the nginx server.

The main requirements are
Sub-domains for users ie; username.example.com are the ones which are accessible
Any access to sub-domains that do not exist (no username for that sub-domain) should go to custom 404 page.
No default virtual host because this server has one IP and main domain www.example.com is running on another IP.
Suggest to us the best way to create virtual hosts on Nginx for each user account
Suggest best method to handle DNS

We will setup the nginx server on Amazon ec2 and provide access

Regular Expression Parsing of TCP Session (no replies)

I'm attempting to configure a reverse TCP proxy which is able to
provide seamless authentication for a partner company's API. The API
has no per-user granular access control capability, so I'm hoping to
add this control by inspecting the first non-handshake packet (after
SYN, SYN/ACK, ACK).

I'm looking for the value between and , which is always
sent as the first non-handshake packet.
Possible regex: (.*)

So far, I've successfully compiled nginx w/ TCP Proxy module,
configured it to allow me to access partner API, and it works great.
Now, I'm attempting to read the first non-handshake packet, looking
for (.*)
Once I have this uid value, I will use drizzle module to connect
directly to MySQL cluster to see if uid has access to API. If it has
access, nginx should simply forward the request. If not, nginx should
block the request with an error message.

I've tried looking at form-input module, because it is able to parse
POST variables. I've also looked at HTTP Header parsing code in nginx
core, but I haven't figured out how to get pointer to TCP payload. I
believe once I have a pointer, it will be possible to find the value
I'm looking for.

Another note - If the packet is not #4 in the stream, I don't want to
process it. Otherwise it will become very CPU intensive.

I'm a complete newbie to nginx, however I am already quite impressed,
and I would like to support future development of the product (both
open source and paid).
